Your Identity In Christ

Our identity is in who God says we are. The enemy comes to attack our identity of being a child of God with accusations, deception and lies. He uses pain and trauma from our past to confuse us and lie about our identity. We need to help our children be confident in who God says they are. When we invite Jesus to our heart we now belong in God’s kingdom. 👑 Knowing our identity, we can fight against the lies of the enemy. Our identity its not about our spiritual gifts or a “title” such as being a pastor or a singer. Our identity comes from receiving Jesus as our savior and becoming all that His perfect love is transforming us to be. Knowing we are accepted, forgiven, loved, chosen, enough, free and adopted into God’s family. In [Matthew 4:6] The devil questioned Jesus’ identity, during the time He was in the wilderness, with: “If you are…the Son of God” The devil was trying to trap Jesus into proving Himself speaking doubt over His identity but Jesus fought back with the Word Of God and was not shaken by the attempts of the devil to manipulate a reaction out of Him. He was confident in who He is. Another example in the Bible we see is in Gideon. [Judge 6:12] When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” We see here though Gideon did not feel like a warrior. God was declaring over him who he created him to be.

ACTIVATION: Here is a FREE PRINTABLE (scroll down) for your kids to write or draw their Identity In Christ. Spend time praying and hearing from God together as a family about you child’s identity. Read bible verses that speak directly over your identity. After you are finished, make sure to declare who God says you are! You can put this paper on the wall to remember and take hold of these promises.

My oldest daughter got words like peacemaker, courages, made whole, child of God, loved. For my son: brave, powerful, and protected. My youngest is two, so we helped her as a family and we all received from the Lord one identity word over her: confident, special, unique, and joyful. Jesus loves us just the way we are and He also wants to speak to us and break lies we are believing over ourselves like Gideon.

Psalm 139:13- 14 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

  2. Nice topic! I think God desires our identity to be fully, practically and NOW. We tend to look forward to our maturity in Christ, yet any growth in relationship has a neverending series of immediate NOW’s.
