“If your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness” (Matthew 6:22-23)
Our eyesight is a blessing from God not just to see the beautiful things He created, but there is so much more. Our spiritual eyesight is a gift. The spiritual realm is real and many places leave their doors open to the enemy. You can keep your house safe by keeping your eyes on Jesus. Protecting our eyes is very important especially for all the seers who hear God through dreams and visions. Watching things of a dark origin might seem fun for some but it can hinder you from receiving and hearing from God. My dreams shift in a negative way when I allow things in my home that don’t aligned to the word of God in my life. Sin can hinder our imagination by viewing what is ungodly. In the bible it talks about coming to God like little children.
“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3 )
Here are some ways to protect our spiritual eyes:
1. Be careful what you watch and read.
Movies can greatly hinder your ability to receive good dreams at night. Especially dreams from God. We hear a lot of children having nightmares and sometimes it’s after seeing a scary movie or something that chips away at their innocence. Also, what we read through books or websites can open the door of our minds to distractions.
2. Fix your eyes on Jesus
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. — Hebrews 12:2
3. Pray
It’s important we constantly pray for a renewal and cleansing in our minds because God is so good and want us to partner with him.
4. Reading the Bible
One thing my husband and I love to do before going to sleep is read the Bible. It can be reading a whole chapter or just a powerful verse that bring so much revelation. We can soak in the scripture and pray. A person whose eyes are continually engaging with the Word of God will experience a transformation from inside out.
5. Be quick to repent
“Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways” (Psalm 119:37).
Prayer:
“Lord, I pray that you show me and reveal to me what I need to give up. Forgive me for anything my eyes have looked at that was ungodly, God, I pray that You cleanse my eye and ear gates with the blood of Jesus. I repent of anything that my ears have listened to that was ungodly. Help me stay clean and pure. Guard my eyes from temptation. I pray for discernment and wisdom so I can be obedient to your word. Thank you, Jesus, for setting me free.”
