Raising Supernatural Kids

In a previous blog post “Testimony: Seeing In The Supernatural” I talked about my son seeing in the spirit realm. I talked about how demons were real and they were targeting my son trying to bringing fear to him at night with nightmares and moving around his room. I shared about how we can take authority over every demonic spirit.  Some children can be very sensitive to the spiritual atmosphere and it’s important that we train them how to take authority when they see, hear or feel demonic spirits. If your child is having nightmares or seeing demons I encourage you to check out that blog post. Seeing the spirit is a gift but if the enemy sees you as a threat he will try to convince you that this gift is a burden but don’t despise the gift that the Lord has given your child. Ask God for faith and wisdom so that you will not doubt or ignore the enemy but instead you will come against them with confidence and authority.

When I teach my kids about the things of God, and especially when we cover the supernatural topic, I am intensional about warning them of how the enemy also works in the supernatural with methods that are not from God. The enemy uses spells, horoscopes, magic, and these things are all over many tv shows, games and books. We need to pray over our kids for discernment and teach them about what’s from God and what’s not from God. We want the Holy Spirit to be the source of all of our supernatural power when we are shining our light in the darkness. Here is a great resource I created to teach your kids about putting on the full ” Armor Of God. ”

Include your children in prayer, worship and reading The Bible. This is the foundation of raising supernatural kids. Teaching them they can have a personal relationship with Jesus. It all starts at home, this is your opportunity for your children to know that they can do it too!

Angels

Just like demons are real God’s angels are real too. In the Bible it says there is more angels on our side than those that are against us. Many times in the Bible people receive divine help and direction by an angel sent from the Lord. It is important to teach our children that we are not to worship angels and to only pray to the one and true God. I once dedicated my week to praying for PEACE over people and families. God put people on my heart as I interceded. That same week my daughter came up to me and mentioned she had seen 3 angels in my living room and that each of them were carrying messenger bags. We believed they were messenger angels on assignment. So we prayed and ask Jesus why are they wearing bags and what are they delivering. Immediately my daughter heard the word “PEACE”. I was blown away that God was listening to my prayers. It increased my faith in prayer and believing God is moving on my behalf in prayer, even when I don’t always see it. We get to partner with God’s angels when we pray! The more we worship God in our home and remove things that are not from God, the more we are aware of God’s angels.

Luke 1:19 And the angel answered him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.”

Healing

I include my children when we are praying for people. My heart is for them to know the healing power they carry and that they don’t have a Jr. Holy Spirit. They believe God can do it! My kids have seen healing happen after we prayed. Their eyes get big when they see that pain has suddenly left their leg or when daddy’s back is healed through prayer. There are so many scriptures where Jesus and His disciples healed people from diseases. Healing, freedom and miracles happen only through Jesus Christ who died on the cross so we can have eternal life with Him. He paid for us to be restored and sent us His Spirit so we can experience freedom and healing here on earth. A great way to start talking to your children about healing is reading Bible stories about Jesus healing the sick. John 14:12-14
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do theworks I have been doing,and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Prophecy

It’s important for us to steward our kids prophetic gift and start at a young age. Their child like faith makes it easier for them to see and hear in their spirit. We don’t have to wait until they are older to have a relationship with Jesus and start growing their spiritual gifts. The more we read the BIBLE to them, the more they will know the nature of who God is, how He speaks and what it is like to be in His presence. PRAYER is another way the Lord reveals Himself to us. Teaching them to pray everyday and to wait on God to speak to them is so powerful. It’s important that we teach them of the many ways God speaks and that they too can hear from God. They can effectively interpret their prophetic dreams and visions, just like Joseph did in the Bible. We can teach them to prophesy the thoughts of God over people.
